Localizing documents with the DITA CMS
This section describes how to localize your DITA CMS documents.
Localization is the process of translating the content and adapting it for use in another language.
Prepare a pre-localization kit
You can send a preliminary version of your text to the translation team.
Start the localization process
Localization begins by creating a copy of the map and its contents in the localization area, one for each of the target languages.
Localizing from an alternate language (pivot language localization)
A pivot language is used as intermediate language when a direct translation between the source language and the target language is not available.
Prepare an image localization kit
Images are sent for translation in a separate package.
Prepare the localization kit
Once the files are in the Localization cycle, a localization kit is prepared for each language and sent to the translation team.
Import localized images
After images return from translation, they must be imported back into the system.
Import a localized map or topic
After files return from translation, they must be imported back into the system.
Retranslate from source
Use this function when you want to have a topic completely retranslated from scratch.
Reset text that was auto-translated
In some cases, text that has been auto-translated must be reviewed again by the localizers.
