System Requirements

Table 1. Server-side requirements
ComponentRequirement
TEXTML Server
  • IXIASOFT TEXTML Server 4.3.6.4188 and up
    • If you are using ICU word parsing and localizing in zh-cn, zh-tw, ja-jp, or th-th, TEXTML Server 4.3.7.4299 and up is recommended.
  • Operating system:
    • Windows® 2008R2 (64-bits only) and up is recommended.
    • Linux® Red Hat®/CentOS version 5 or 6 (both 64-bits only)
Note: Red Hat®/CentOS version 7 is not supported.
DITA CMS Admin plugin
  • TEXTML Admin plugin 4.3.7.4299 and up
Output Generator
  • Java™ 1.7.0_51 or 1.7.0-80 and up, or Java 1.8.60 and up; 64-bit
Note: When you run the integrator on the DITA-OT (for example, run ant -f integration.xml in the command prompt) and you are using Java 1.8, it may give you different results because the plugins are not processed in the same order. Since this may cause a change in the behavior of the plugins, it is recommended that you validate the results before going into production.
  • Rendering software (such as RenderX, Antenna House, or Apache FOP)
Scheduler
  • Java™ 1.7.0_51 or 1.7.0-80 and up, or Java 1.8.60 and up, 64-bit
Note: This is not included in the basic DITA CMS Small Business deployment. It requires an additional license.
Table 2. Client-side requirements
ComponentRequirement
DITA CMS Eclipse Client
  • oXygen® XML 18.x and 19.x
  • XMetaL® XMAX™ 8.0.1.61
  • Eclipse SDK 4.3.2 [Build id: 4.3.2.M20140221-1700], 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Java™ JRE 1.7.0_51 or 1.7.0-80 and up (recommended), or Java 1.8.60 and up (limited support), 32-bit or 64-bit
Note: Java 1.8 support for the DITA CMS Eclipse Client is available, but not recommended and should only be used if absolutely necessary. To use Java 1.8.60 or up, you must install an extra plugin or dropin to patch Eclipse to support Java 1.8. For more information, see the Upgrading the DITA CMS to 4.4.
  • Versions of OS supported:
    • Windows® 7 64-bit version minimum is recommended, but the following are supported: Windows 7 32-bit, Windows 8 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit, Windows 10 64-bit, Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, Windows Server 2012 64-bit, and Windows Server 2012 R2 64-bit (RDP or Citrix)
    • Any Linux® platform supported by Eclipse SDK 4.3 (32-bit or 64-bit version)
Important: The DITA CMS Eclipse Client requires good communication with the server components. The latency needs to be better than 50 ms.

Build 4.4.42 - August 31, 2017

Important notes

Some mandatory changes to the configuration must be made in this release. Please follow the instructions provided in Upgrading the DITA CMS to 4.4.

End of Support

The IXIASOFT Web Author and Web Collaborative Review modules are being merged into a unique DITA CMS Web component to take your content creation and reviewing processes to the next level. The DITA CMS Web component will include the authoring and reviewing features available today as well as new features, such as a map view, topic and map creation, as well as map editing.

As such, all support for Web Author and Web Collaborative Reviewer will stop by December 31st, 2017.

Features

  • Collaborative Review: allows writers to send a map and its topics for review in DITA CMS Web. In DITA CMS Web allows reviewers to add annotations to content assigned to them for review as well as view the annotations other assigned reviewers are adding. Writers will also appreciate receiving this topic-level feedback which can then easily be incorporated into the content.
  • One-click image insert in oXygen XML Editor: allows users to import a new image into the Content Store and insert it in the locked topic open in the oXygen XML Editor.
  • Insert Ditavalref in DITA Map view: users can apply a DITAVAL file to a subset of content in a map, which is used when generating an output to filter that subset according to its conditions.

Major bug fixes

  • DITA CMS Core
    • [DEV-2339] DITA CMS displayed an error when importing a localization kit if the only change was letter case. The error indicated that the source files and the translated files were the same. This issue has been fixed.
  • Dynamic Release Management
    • [DEV-2357] When multiple users performed actions such as Create New Instance or Add To in the same DRM version simultaneously, unexpected results would occur. Topics would appear as orphans or would be created in the incorrect version. This issue has been fixed.
    • [DEV-2637] A status change on an image that was cloned from a closed DRM version would reopen the closed primary version and cascade the parent dependencies to a working state. An architecture change has been made so that the parent topic is also cloned to the new version instead of reused. This prevents any status cascading on the closed version.
    • [DEV-2886] When a user created a new topic in an existing DRM version, sometimes a container part remained locked because it had reached its limit of 1000 objects. The topic was successfully added to the next available container part, but the lock on the original one was not removed. This issue has been fixed and a DRM container part no longer remains locked if a new object cannot be added to it.

Bug fixes

  • DITA CMS Core
    • [DEV-2068] When launching DITA CMS, the Error Log view showed multiple NLS warnings. This issue has been fixed.
    • [DEV-3073] When importing a topic that included xrefs to a nested topic, DITA CMS changed the href to reference the id of the root topic. For example, was changed to . This issue has been fixed so that the xref is imported as .
  • Dynamic Release Management
    • [DEV-3055] In DRM configurations, the productlines element was missing from the content model for library metadata. This issue has been fixed.
