DITA CMS Web Release Notes

DITA CMS Web is a web-based collaboration interface to assist technical writers and subject matter experts working together to produce content. Intended for a range of users, from those who have little to no knowledge of markup languages to those who are familiar with HTML, XML, or even DITA, DITA CMS Web camouflages the complexity of DITA and allows users to work on the content in a simplified, user-friendly environment.

For more information about DITA CMS Web, please see the documentation on the DITA CMS web site: http://archive.ixiasoft.com/en/products/dita-cms/documentation/

End of Support

The IXIASOFT Web Author and Web Collaborative Review modules are being merged into a unique DITA CMS Web component to take your content creation and reviewing processes to the next level. The DITA CMS Web component will include the authoring and reviewing features available today as well as new features, such as a map view, topic and map creation, as well as map editing.

As such, all support for Web Author and Web Collaborative Reviewer will stop by December 31st, 2017.

Features

  • New Map View page added to DITA CMS Web. The Map View page allows you to open a Context Map to view its table of contents and view the location of your assignments in relation to the rest of the document. Currently supports only unspecialized DITA maps based on the IXIASOFT Map and Bookmap.
  • New guide provides instructions for updating an existing DITA CMS Web to the current build. For more information see DITA CMS Web Update Guide.

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues identified in this release:

  • [DEV-465] Tables created using the simpletable element cannot be modified in the Editing page using the tools on the Table menu. To make changes to the table, use the right-click menu and insert or remove the desired elements.
  • [DEV-1304] Topics that contain embedded SVG images cannot be opened.
  • [DEV-1687] Tables containing large images, multiple images, or long string of characters may fall outside the margins (run off the page) in the Preview page.
  • [DEV-2108] Actions done in Internet Explorer are performed slower than in other browsers.
  • [DEV-2487]* DITA CMS Web does not support elements nested within an alt element. If the alt element contains anything other than text, the topic will be prevented from opening in DITA CMS Web. This requires a change in the DITA CMS system configuration, see the DITA CMS Web Update Guide.

Major bug fixes

  • None.

Bug fixes

  • [DEV-2477] When a user attempted to open a topic in DITA CMS Web and it contained a conref which contained a processing instruction, it resulted in an error. This issue has been fixed so the content of the topic is displayed correctly without displaying the processing instruction.

* Indicates that configuration changes need to be applied to benefit from the new features or fixes.

Known Issues

The following is a list of issues identified in this release:

  • [DEV-465] Tables created using the simpletable element cannot be modified in the Editing page using the tools on the Table menu. To make changes to the table, use the right-click menu and insert or remove the desired elements.

  • [DEV-2108] Actions done in Internet Explorer are performed slower than in other browsers.

Bug Fixes

  • [DEV-653] A topic containing images (previously existing or inserted from the Editing page) could not change to a higher status in the workflow unless the images were at a higher status than the topic. For example, a topic could not change from Authoring:review to Authoring:done unless the images were in Authoring:done or the equivalent in your deployment. This issue has been fixed so the images are automatically changed to a higher status along with the topic.
  • [DEV-1899] When opening a topic with an extra long filename in the Preview page, the topic was opened off-center and had to be dragged back into position. This issue has been fixed.
  • [DEV-2108] The Assignments page would not refresh properly when it was opened in Internet Explorer. This issue have been fixed.
